For parents
What the PasCalculator does, what Cal is, and how it fits school rules.
Last updated October 28, 2026
The short version: the PasCalculator is a real scientific calculator. Cal, the helper inside, explains how to solve a problem, step by step. The goal is that your teen learns the method, not just the answer.
Made to help them learn
- Every step: Cal shows each step in plain words, then a quick check.
- Hint first: a setting that gives a nudge before the answer, so they try it themselves. Settings, then AI answers, then Hint first.
- Practice: in the app, Cal can make a similar question to try.
Ages
- The app and Cal are for ages 13 and up. The app asks before pairing, and accounts can't be made under 13.
- Under the age of majority (19 in BC), a parent or guardian agrees to the terms and is responsible for purchases.
- The calculator part works for anyone, with no app and no data.
Tests and school rules
- Always follow the school's rules. Many exams don't allow calculators with wireless or a camera, including BC provincial assessments and the SAT.
Privacy, in short
- Photos of homework delete themselves after 30 days.
- "Delete everything" in the app removes all questions, answers and photos from our server, right away.
- We never sell data, and there are no ads in the calculator or the app.
- Cal's answers are written by AI and can be wrong. We say so clearly.
Coming before launch
- A parent OK step for under-18s to be confirmed.
- A switch for parents to turn photos off to be confirmed.
